Mathematical Tools: -convergence

The mathematical notion of -convergence (see Braides 2002; Dal Maso 1993) precisely matches the intuitive notion of convergence of constitutive laws. Indeed, applied external forces are irrelevant and only the elastic energy is considered.

Proving a useful -convergence result is proving three items:First one has to prove that the structure remains stable when tends to zero: The equilibrium displacement field does not blow up. More precisely, for any M, any sequence satisfying contains a converging subsequence.
